GLAAD condemns Trump administration for wiping LGBTQ and HIV-focused content

Source: Scripps News

Posted 12:14 PM, Jan 23, 2025

The LGBTQ media advocacy organization GLAAD expressed its dismay that nearly all LGBTQ and HIV-focused content and resources have been removed from the White House website following the inauguration of President Donald Trump. The organization also noted the removal of LGBTQ-specific pages from the Centers for Disease Control, the Department of State, and other government agencies.

GLAAD noted that pages removed include WhiteHouse.gov’s equity report, a fact sheet with information on expanding access to HIV prevention and treatment, and information about LGBTQ Pride Month. GLAAD also stated that the Department of State’s LGBTQ rights and the Department of Labor’s LGBTQ workers pages are no longer accessible.

As soon as the Trump administration took power, many fact sheets and websites created by the Biden administration were removed. Some of the sites can still be accessed through internet archives.

“President Trump claims to be a strong proponent of freedom of speech, yet he is clearly committed to censorship of any information containing or related to LGBTQ Americans and issues that we face,” said GLAAD President Sarah Kate Ellis.

to pay for all or part of their treatment programs. I’m sure Trump would just prefer they all die.

government web sites having been scrubbed of content such as abortions, LGBTQ, and etc.

Someone had to be working on these changes before he was inaugurated. How big was the shadow government apparatus the last four years. I'm sure that is why he wants to purge all career employments...because he fears his admin might be a victim of what he perpetuated.

He sure is going in guns a blazin' is a much more organized and competent way the first time around. I'm sure the project 2025 and like groups have manipulated him into giving them the reigns. It isn't possible he is this efficient and organized.

In my opinion is our message should be about how these are not his doing. Highlight he is the clown and the freaks that are running things think him a useful idiot.

Most if not all of the agency websites are maintained by contracted web services personnel so what most likely happened was a "stop work" order notice was given to those contractors, and the URLs for specified sites at various agencies, were pointed to one of 45's "generic" 404 pages (the files for that supplied to the agency IT staff to give to the contractors).

The info is probably still there but not publicly accessible. Of course the various web archives on the internet have snapshots of it.

But as a note, there is some info on those sites that might be considered "government records", and if completely wiped, would be a violation of the Federal Records Act.
