Trump demands California voter ID law for wildfire relief and threatens FEMA upon arrival in North Carolina

Source: The Independent

President Donald Trump on Friday said he would demand that California overhaul its election laws and reverse environmental policies as a condition of any federal funds to help the state recover from wildfires that have devastated the Los Angeles area in recent weeks.

He also claimed that the Federal Emergency Management Agency had mishandled efforts to help North Carolinians recover from Hurricane Helene and suggested that the White House and Republican National Committee would somehow take over the distribution of any relief funds authorized by Congress.

Trump took aim at FEMA as he arrived in Asheville, North Carolina, to view hurricane damage, before traveling to California to view the devastation wrought by wildfires.

Speaking to reporters just after he disembarked Air Force One, Trump told reporters that FEMA, which is part of the Department of Homeland Security, “has really let us down,” though it was unclear what exactly he was accusing the agency of having done or not done.

I’m a native Californian how dare he threaten the state with the world’s largest economy.

I would vote today to secede from the US and become a providence of Canada . And let us take the money we contributed into social security.

'it's the worst government program we have' but will put grifters in charge of it, change the name, and take credit for what's he's done that no one believed possible ever before in history. And GOP will agree, and much of the nation will buy it.

"the White House and Republican National Committee would somehow take over the distribution of any relief funds authorized by Congress."

Another outburst full of unconstitutional diktats. It's funny how the writer of the piece inserted the word "somehow." trump considers the entire federal treasury ending up in his wallet to dole out as he, and he alone, sees fit..

11. In California we have to prove citizenship when we register to vote, all registered voters receive their ballots by mail

We do still have polling places and it is ok to register to vote at a polling place on election day. but yes you must still show proof of citizenship to register
then vote.
Most of our voter registration is handled by our Department of Motor Vehicles who also issue the new, Real IDcards. When you move and notify the DMV of your change of address, they update your voter registration.
