Amazon says tariff cost displays never considered for main site, 'nothing has been implemented'

Source: ABC News

An Amazon spokesperson, in a new statement, pushed back on a report that the company was planning to show consumers how much a product's cost comes from tariffs. The report prompted pushback from the White House, with press secretary Karoline Leavitt calling such a move a "hostile and political act."

That's all there is, Amazon apparently caving to Trump.

I don't know how to say this without sounding like I am supporting Amazon but I do support all businesses right to be honest with their customers. If state sales tax is itemized, which it is, I see nothing amiss with advertising federal sales taxes. I am disappointed that it sounds as if Amazon has been bullied into backing down on the sales tax from tariff disclosure. People NEED to understand that the tariff scheme is a progressive income tax replacement with a regressive sales tax. Amazon and Kroger, etc., should disclose, accurately, any added sales tax to items, including avocados .

I would support Amazon, and ANY company that wished to list the tariff on their receipt.

But Bezos is now running away from that because he angered the Orange Toddler.

President Psychopath's lies?

I understand. It's easy to be knocked off balance by misinformation and President Psychopath is really good at it.

Amazon is saying there was never any such plan to begin with.

Phew! For a second there it seemed as though Bezos grew a spine! Good to know he's still all puckered up and smooching the dicktator's ring. I picture a 3 Stooges-esque scene at how fast Bezos's spokespeople scrambled to correct that bit of news about showing the impact of Rump's tariff tax.

After all, ol' Jeff's just a simple billionaire... how can he possibly fight against fascism?

Love your name, by the way. My favorite villain from the Wild, Wild West!

Kind of hard to fight fascism when you keep writing checks to support it.

Thanks for the compliment. Dr, Miguelito Loveless, the last of the Gentlemen Villains.

In over a month. My husband is shocked!😂

But I’m not really buying anything right now except groceries. So are a whole bunch of other people in my little part of Texas.

Sunday at 12:30 the restaurants near me weren’t full at all. Normally the line is out the door.

Lots of my neighbors were barbecuing in the backyard this weekend. It was good to hear families talking and laughing.

I’m sticking to basics, with an occasional trip to Costco for (not only basics but) something a little fun. Today’s trip was to get a Woozoo fan that’s on sale.

Not eating out, not doing Amazon, etc. My area is pure MAGA red but I am seeing fewer and fewer Trump flags.

Weird isn’t it? No Trump flags, bumper stickers and no monster truck running around with huge Trump flags either!

Yeah!

Drove past Wendy’s about 1:00 no one there. Bill Miller had some customers. Whataburger had 3 cars in the drive thru. Raising Canes had no one. Same with Arby’s.

Ghost town. H-E-B AND Walmart were busy.

I still see a lot of the MAGA crap comments on the community Facebook pages, but not as much as there once was. Like you, I'm not seeing the bubba trucks with flags at all. We have one new restaurant out near me that just opened and is having humongous crowds. I think it's just people trying it out for being new. But the usual places are not very busy.

Glad to know there are more DU'ers nearby!

They can now be coerced, cowed, and crushed under the dictator's heel just like the rest of us.

They were in the catbird's seat, even under "liberal" Administrations, because the laws were written with their interests in mind.

Now they are subject to the same mercurial mood shifts from a tyrant that the rest of us are.

It is like paying to join a dysfunctional, abusive family as the youngest child.

Why would they want that? Why would they tolerate that?

(maybe from the wayback machine)
And compare them to prices in May/June when tariffs pricing should be well under way

Then post the differences on a site like
Look.at.Trump.tariffs.com

Maybe show Walmart or whoever else.

Probably funded by competition. No doubt. Probably just enter the item code and country. The truth will get out no matter what tRUMP is feeling.
