Taylor Swift donates $1 million to Feeding America, group says

Source: CBS News

December 23, 2025 / 1:38 PM EST

Pop star Taylor Swift has donated $1 million to Feeding America just days before Christmas, the nonprofit said Tuesday. Feeding America CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot said the organization, which oversees a network of food banks, food pantries and local meal programs, was "incredibly grateful" for the gift.

"This holiday season, (Swift's) continued support is a powerful reminder of what is possible when we unite to end hunger," Babineaux-Fontenot said on Instagram. "When we join together alongside people facing hunger, we can make sure families have a full table this holiday season and beyond."

Swift has not publicly commented on the donation. Swift's team did not immediately respond to a request for comment from CBS News.

Roughly 14% of U.S. households reported being food insecure between January and October of 2025, Purdue University researchers recently found. Babineaux-Fontenot said during an appearance on CBS News' "Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan" last month that Feeding America has been seeing more demand than it can keep up with.

As a side note I was reading a ditty about how famous people tip and Taylor is very generous about tipping but jayz will run servers ragged and then not leave a dime as a tip

As an old waitress I have no use for non tipping peops

Here is one more,

Jennifer lopez and ben afflack have lunch, he leaves a hundred dollar bill on the table and she walked back, picked it up and laid down a five dollar bill

There’s a place in hell for people like that

This isn't a political announcement, I'm asking my fellow DUers to consider donating to foodbanks in our own communities.

We won't get the headlines like Taylor Swift does, but that's OK. We all live in communities that serve the poor and most of them are run by loving, giving neighbors. They used to think they could count on funding from the government, and now that's all falling apart. Even the blue states are having trouble keeping up.

Please support your local community foodbanks, because it's going to make a difference THIS YEAR. If you belong to a church please ask your church groups to help in any way they can, by donations, volunteering or whatever. So many Americans are desperately needing help, and the professional fundraising conglomerates aren't getting paid to care about the unfortunates this year.

and I am not really a fan of her music (different generation).

However here was something that Billboard put together of some of her "known" contributions - A Timeline of Taylor Swift’s Generosity

I also know that her current fiance (Travis Kelce) has a brother Jason, who is a retired Philadelphia Eagle, who has been very active here in Philly (despite not being from here) for charity and he and former teammates (who are still on the team) - Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson, have recorded annual Christmas albums for charity (I bought all of them so far) and this year included adorable stuffed dolls of themselves (and did a music video this year) -

(and yes that's the 3 of them singing)

This was the first year they did it (done in 2022) and was their "making of" video -

and last year's -

Fortunately there are many of these folks who ARE giving unlike douchebags like fucking Muskrat, who spends his time TAKING and HOARDING.

I like the billionaires that help people. You wanna just burn it all down and start over? People need to get more Democratic politicians in office to make things a bit better. Priztker is a nice billionaire. I'd like to see him in the WH. FDR was uber wealthy and he gave us Social Security. He welcomed the hate of the millionaires back then. Soros supports Democratic causes. That's why the BAD BILLIONAIRES attack him constantly.

Most of that is real estate and the masters of her music that she just recently regained ownership of plus she just worked her ass off touring.

She's not getting fat off of Government contracts, venture capitalism buyouts or living off of the backs of poor workers.

It's one thing to attack capitalism and another entirely to attack a person just because they have accumulated wealth as a result of years of work in a singular profession.

She's been working on her craft since she was a teen. If nothing else she deserves respect for her perseverance.

There are no 'right kinds' of billionaires except those who divest themselves of most of their wealth. But they shouldn't have to even do that. They should be taxed right out of the billionaire category so we can have systemic change, and not rely on the sops tossed to us by the mega wealthy.

That’s 0.0625% of her net worth.

I’m not knocking her. That’s also better than say Elon musk would give any charity.

But tech companies also give very generous bonuses to their employees as well as stock options. Are we supposed to sing their praises too? Throw some scraps toward the masses, and people think you’re a saint.

Remember that when Trump puts his signature on his “tariff dividend”. The billionaires are taking us all for a ride.

if I’m not really impressed when a billionaire throws the equivalent of scraps. This isn’t even about her. What she’s doing is good, but she’s still a billionaire and I fundamentally think a system is shit if it has to rely on the wealthy for people not to starve. That’s a failed society imo.

It’s about how this site selectively sings the praises of the ultra wealthy when they agree with our politics, yet often don’t question how fucked up our system is in the first place, when it enables this kind of accumulation of wealth.

Merry Christmas to you too.
