Zelensky says he plans to meet Trump in Florida for peace talks Sunday

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he plans to meet his US counterpart Donald Trump in Florida Sunday, as part of efforts to reach a peace deal to end Russia’s nearly four-year war in Ukraine.

Speaking to reporters Friday, Zelensky cautioned that he could not say whether the meeting would lead to a firm agreement, but said the two sides would aim to “finalize as much as we can.” Earlier on Friday, the Ukrainian leader had struck an optimistic note, writing on X that “a lot can be decided before the New Year.”

Zelensky told reporters that the 20-point peace plan hammered out by Ukrainian and US officials is “90% ready” and that he planned to discuss with Trump how Ukraine’s allies could guarantee its security in the future.

There was no immediate confirmation of the upcoming meeting from the White House. Zelensky’s announcement comes after he offered to compromise on some of the thorniest issues that have so far stalled the US-mediated peace process with Russia. It is not clear, however, whether Zelensky’s concessions will satisfy the Kremlin.

7. I think the tables have turned

Trump messing with Ukraine had the side effect of solidifying Euro support of Ukraine. And Now Z is in a much stronger negotiating position. Beginning with the fact that Russia violated the nuclear weapons treaty with Ukraine, then they invaded U, then they lost their asses and a lot of money, Z can say, "GTFO, and we'll return your frozen assets after you pay for damages to your country.
Pedo has no leverage here at all, and his word isn't worth a dime. And he's crazy. Z knows this, and knows Pedo will go along with anything as long as there is something in it for him, and he gets flattered.
What I hope is, Pedo will try to strong arm Z again, and Z will simply walk out. That will end the last bit of power the US holds in Europe.

9. The script has already been written:

1. Zelenskyy meets with The Diddler on Sunday, who really has no legal or diplomatic moorings.
2. The Diddler shows some leanings toward Zelenskyy, offers a sliver of optimism that the US might be supportive.
3. Diddling Donny, on Monday, has a long phone conversation with Putin and loses his "enthusiasm" for the preservation of Ukrainian integrity, and again repeats his opinion that UKR has to cede territory to Russia to make peace.
4. This "announcement" is immediately followed by a massive Russian attack on UKR's hospitals, schools, and residential areas.
