Renee Good's family hires same law firm used by George Floyd's family to investigate ICE shooting
Source: AP
(AP) - Renee Good s family is accusing federal immigration officers of killing the Minneapolis mother as she attempted to follow agents instructions, and said Wednesday they have hired the same law firm that represented George Floyd s family to press for answers and accountability.
Her loved ones said in a statement they want Good, 37, remembered as an agent of peace and urged the public not to use her death as a political flashpoint, according to the Chicago-based firm Romanucci & Blandin. The firm said it will release information from its investigation in the coming weeks.
The familys decision to hire the law firm came the same week the Justice Department said it sees no basis to open a federal civil rights investigation into the shooting. An FBI probe of Renee Goods death is ongoing.

Romanucci & Blandin and attorney Antonio Romanuccia legal firm and lawyer known for representing George Floyds family in the civil case that ended in a landmark settlementsignaling.
In a statement from Romanucci & Blandin, the family called for calm in Minneapolis and urged the public not to turn Goods death into a political fight. The lawyers said that the family wants Good to be remembered with a simple message: Be Good. They also stated that they will disclose information from their investigation as it is developed , describing transparency as essential.
Attorney Antonio M. Romanucci, the firms founding partner, said the team represents Goods partner, Becca Good, along with her parents, Tim and Donna Ganger, and her siblings. The attorneys said Minneapolis lawyer Kevin Riach is serving as co-counsel.
The legal teams account describes what it said occurred on Jan. 7, 2026, along Portland Avenue between East 33rd and 34th streets. The attorneys said Good, 37, and her partner were driving home after dropping off their 6-year-old child at school when they saw federal agents in their neighborhood and stopped to observe. The attorneys said videos show Good gesturing for other vehicles to pass, as agents moved toward her car.

(37,426 posts)Some lies are mostly true and are false by omission.
The speaker says only true, the hearer infers all false.
This is worse than a lie. With a lie, you can say, "He told me an untruth." With an inferred untruth based on truth, you might claim you were mislead--but that means you were duped, and even then, for a superior0-thinking person that means the stupid mislead the bright. The person heard the facts, the person inferred wrongly, reached a false conclusion ... and owns it. That person didn't just accept it--it's that person's own conclusion, fruit of his/her labor. It's their intellectual baby and they've bought in.
Ownership is hard to give up.
Even if it's built on a set of true facts that omits a lot of also true facts so sets the I-wanna-believe thinker, often self-dubbed "critical" thinker, up for naive thinking and false conclusions. If logic has it's own devil appointed to corrupt it, it's that devil's work.
I've said before that "half a lie is worse than a lie" because that's how it works. In academia. In relationships. In politics.
