Businesses in Minneapolis are planning to close Friday to protest ICE

MINNEAPOLIS — Even with a below-freezing forecast through the end of the week, several residents and business owners said they are planning to turn out Friday for an “ICE Out” day of protest in the city. Organizers are calling for no work, no school and no shopping, and some businesses said they would close their doors as part of the civil action.

“This is a bigger thing than the weather,” said Larry Weiss, a retired resident who patrols on his block alongside his wife and noted it was supposed to be about “eight below” in the city on Friday. “They are trying to break us and we are not going to be broken,” he said.

Posters calling for statewide action and promoting the protest march and rally are pasted in the windows of businesses near the University of Minnesota. In the LynLake area, a few businesses had posted signs warning that neither Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs nor Border Patrol were welcome inside their stores without a valid judicial warrant.

“Everyone is welcome here, except I.C.E.,” reads a sign on the door to Wrecktangle Pizza. Three weeks since 37-year-old U.S. citizen Renee Nicole Good was fatally shot by an ICE officer, the defiance of the city’s residents remains on full display.

Literally catches his death of cold. He deserves it, though I'd rather see him sentenced to life in prison.

which is in the southern part of the state (1/4 of the way up from the southern border to the northern border).

NOON: minus 13 deg F temperature, and minus 33 degrees windchill.

Nobody is bothered by below freezing temperatures here. Nobody is bothered by below zero temperatures either.

But this is forecast to be the coldest in at least 5 years.

NBC News? Sigh.

Such a nice contrast with the 7 Democratic representatives who just caved and forked over another $10 billion to ICE.

The ICE men are in for a lesson in what cold really can do.

Minnesota nice is also Minnesota strong. The ICE men are gonna wanna go back to their hometowns but their greed for that ICE money just might be the death of them. Did they gloss over the fine print in the contracts they all signed? They were blinded by the $$ signs and missed the important stuff.

DHS is nasty to them too and they sure as hell have it coming.
