DHS Secretary Kristi Noem out, Trump says

Source: Axios

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is leaving the department and being replaced by Sen. Markwayne Mullin, President Trump said Thursday.

Why it matters: Noem's exit leaves Trump's mass deportation agenda without its most prominent face amid a public backlash.

Catch up quick: Noem drew bipartisan fury after accusing Minneapolis nurse Alex Pretti and mother Renee Nicole Good of being domestic terrorists after both were shot and killed by federal agents in January.

I worked for the federal government and I was shocked at the number of folks there who were anti-government. Seemed like the height of hypocrisy to me. There is a weird combination of hyper christianity and lack of education here. Divorce or adultery is ok as long as you go to church every Sunday and profess your love for SkyDaddy. I read a great book years ago about how during the Great Depression Oklahoma was the 6th poorest state in the nation. In the mid 1990s Oklahoma was still the 6th poorest state. If I recall correctly the book was Dancing With the Ghost of Tom Joad.

Thu Mar 5, 2026, 02:33 PM

This is from when Mullin was rumoured as a Sec of Agriculture appointment in late 2024, but it looks like it still applies:

When a U.S. Senate vacancy occurs, Title 51, Section 10 requires the governor to appoint someone to fill the remainder of the term, and within 30 days it instructs the governor to call a special election under certain circumstances. The appointee must sign “an oath affirming that the person will not file as a candidate for the office when it next appears on the ballot.” However, the provision about calling a special election for a vacant U.S. Senate seat is subject to Title 26, Section 12-101, which states that “if the vacant office is already scheduled to be filled for a full term at the next available regularly scheduled election, then no special election shall be called.”

Because Mullin’s Senate seat is already up for consideration in 2026, whomever Stitt appoints would serve until that election concludes.

Whether an appointee’s prescribed “oath” declining a 2026 candidacy complies with the U.S. Constitution, however, is another question being studied and debated in Oklahoma political circles.

https://nondoc.com/2024/11/12/markwayne-mullin-cabinet-rumor-spurs-speculation/

In 1963, an Oklahoma senator died, the governor resigned, got himself appointed, but lost his primary the next year.

But in a year where 2024 Trump +20 districts are swinging 15-30+ points towards Dems, voter suppression, gerrymandering and other ham handed efforts will not be sufficient to “rig” the election in their favor.

This administration is an evil clown car of incompetent goat rodeo rejects, not the cadre of organized, efficient Nazis some imagine them to be.

because we have the votes but votes can be suppressed and counts can be manipulated.

While many states have enacted voter suppression measures, the SAVE act appears to be stalled in the senate. The undetected manipulation of vote counts is virtually impossible - it did not happen in 2024 (no it didn’t), and the attempts in previous elections were detected and the perpetrators dealt with harshly- just ask Tina Peters.

While they may sow chaos and destruction, outside of the executive branch they have very little actual, physical control.

Incidents debunking the myth of Trump’s omnipotence continue to pile up daily. Conspiracy theories about physically impossible scenarios - that is what is truly, dangerously naive.

As I have said, outside of the executive branch, he has very little actual, physical control over anything, whether it is vote totals in hundreds of elections across the country, or on the ground in the nations he is destroying.

Desperation means his administration will continue to flail incompetently, ineffectively, and most importantly, obviously for all to see.

Just because Trump imagines something, and speaks it, does not mean it will become reality- when have seen that numerous times.

Just because someone can imagine a dystopian doomsday scenario and type it on the internet does not make that scenario plausible, possible or probable.

Sorry to hear that you continue to accept the myth of Trump’s omnipotence.

So far I have scant evidence to believe these assclowns are even halfway competent, and I have to grudgingly set my misgivings aside long enough to regard the possibility of their success at anything as an exceptional circumstance requiring exceptional corroboration. Granted, there certainly would be a lot of moving parts out of sight to the general public, but I can't just suppose they have their shit together without some indication of prior success.

They want to be a real big boy dictatorship so bad it hurts, and even with all their current advantages they're surprisingly ineffective at establishing one.

More likely most involved, especially Wiles, realize they're playing to an audience of one, and that one wants to see better poll numbers. The choice of Mullin is a mountain of mystery, but without strong evidence, I doubt it's a stroke of genius or a flex.

The "Shield of the Americas"- is a U.S.-led security initiative and summit, proposed for March 2026 in Miami, focusing on strengthening regional coordination among select Latin American and Caribbean nations. It addresses organized crime, narcotics trafficking, and regional stability, while counteracting Chinas influence in the Western Hemisphere

It functions as a smaller, invitation-based, "like-minded" alliance designed to advance regional security and, as described by supporters, uphold a "Neo-Monroe Doctrine" to prevent foreign adversaries from establishing footholds in the region.

Kristi Noem is set to act as the Special Envoy for this initiative, according to reports in March 2026.

an experienced knowledgeable person heading the Homeland Security....this is it........

I am justifiably worried about another 9/11 or worse. Every Terrorist organization in the Mid East is gonna come looking for revenge in the U.S............

If Mullin is going to adopt and use any of "her" Jets, I would recommend a HAZMAT crew sterilize everything inside the planes.........

I just saw this guy Mullin in an interview about the "war" in Iran and he couldn't put together a coherent sentence. I was thinking, "what an idiot", and then I read about this shit! Does he have to go before the Senate for confirmation? That will be a real circus.
The puppy killer wasn't fired, she was moved to a made-up position in order for fatso to save face.

It's pretty good news if you're a human being somewhere else. The replacement, predictably, sounds like an asshole.

she’s going to have to be very choosy about which countries she visits if she decides to go abroad. I can imagine her visiting some civilized country or other and getting arrested for her crimes against the innocent. She doesn’t even have to be a tourist: she could just be changing planes.

He only hired her because of her botox lips.

Mullin isn't going to be much of an improvement. He might be a bit more discrete, but will be just as bad when it comes to not fixing what's broken in the ICE and CBP organizations.
The prison camps are here to stay, as will be the expansion of these camps that has been going on since Trump was elected. You might see some improvement in conditions in the camps, and perhaps better medical care, but otherwise it'll be the same old same old.
We're still going to see Trump's brown shirts kidnap people off the streets, and engage in violence against US citizens who protest what they're doing.
Policy isn't going to change. State terrorism will just have a new face.

96. Kristi Noem may have learned of her firing from Truth Social: report

trump did not tell her that she was fired except on social media

It's unclear how now former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem discovered she was fired, and reports Thursday indicate she could have found out about it on Truth Social.

It's unclear how now former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem discovered she was fired, and reports Thursday indicate she could have found out about it on Truth Social.

CNN senior White House correspondent Kristen Holmes reported that Noem was speaking at the Sergeant Benevolent Association Major Cities Conference in Nashville just as President Donald Trump had announced via his Truth Social platform that he would replace her with MAGA ally and former MMA fighter Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) and demote her to "Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas." A White House official said she was apparently aware as she was speaking that she had lost her position.

"Now I do not know the order of events in terms of whether or not she learned before or he actually posted this, or during the time that he was posting this, that I'm still trying to get to the bottom of," Holmes said. "But she is aware that he has put this out there now, the other thing to note here is that she's been asked a number of questions, and nobody has asked her about it, so clearly there's probably several people in that audience who don't know that this announcement just happened roughly an hour ago or less."
