White House delays permanent CDC director pick

Source: msn/Axios

11h

The White House is indefinitely postponing its selection of a permanent Centers for Disease Control director, leaving acting head Jay Bhattacharya overseeing the agency past a key deadline.

Why it matters: The punt underscores the difficulty of finding a nominee who can be confirmed by the Senate and leaves the beleaguered public health agency without a full-time political leader.

What they're saying: "Dr. Bhattacharya will continue to oversee the CDC by performing the delegable duties of the CDC director," Department of Health and Human Services spokesman Andrew Nixon said.

"Secretary Kennedy and [HHS chief counselor] Chris Klomp are working with the White House on the CDC director search by evaluating candidates that can further the Trump administration's objective of restoring the CDC to its original mission of fighting infectious disease," he added.

What kind of idiotic bullshit is this?

'Original mission'? The mission of the CDC is to protect us from disease. Not just the ones mentioned in the movies.

(Unbelievable... they are so deluded that they think that they can say crap like this and we will just accept it.

Of course, there is ample precedent of success with this procedure... so...

that Brainworm Host has fucked it up. He seems to have dropped out of the news lately and things seem to be going on under the radar (whispered in the news) of at least trying to tamp him down (e.g., suddenly forcing the halt and/or delay of FDA/CDC Committee meetings being run by a bunch of anti-vax and woo loons).

The guy is a terror and a mistake, but despite the complete chaos he is creating...

They will keep him. Because he kisses the ass.

even if he kisses ass (and especially since he ran against 45 way back, which would give them an excuse to cut bait).

I.e., although they "expect loyalty", they show little or none in return (see Noem and Bovino). They could stick the multimillionaire TV quack "Doctor" with 9 mansions in charge in the interim if necessary (since they already have other people doing multiple roles as an end-run around Senate confirmations).

With all due respect... that is something that has been said for the past year or more about so many of that regime.

Over and over.

Nothing has changed, except those who the cabal decided to throw to the wolves as a distraction. Those who are really behind the evil and the chaos are not going to suffer shit until we make them suffer in return.

And, we seem determined not to do that. Which means there will be no consequences for their actions.

So, they will have learned nothing and those who wish to emulate these racist animals will do so because, without any deterrents, why not?

Why even try to fix the current situation if we are not going to do squat about the fact that it will just happen again?

Oh there are some who are gone - Ice Barbie and Little Nazi Bovino as obvious examples.

What is different from his first term is that during the first term, the revolving door was spinning furiously that first year.

This time, someone put the breaks on the door, so some of the originals hung on through the year, but a number have either left (like Susan Monarez, the original Senate-confirmed head of CDC), or have been drop-kicked out (like Noem, Bovino, & Habba) or have been or are being neutered (like Kari Lake and Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-Deremer).

Hopefully the whole thing comes crumbling down sooner rather than later and will take the architects like Miller, with it.
