Summer electric bills sizzle as the cost of cooling climbs

Temperatures are climbing, and so is the price of electricity. That's a one-two punch that could result in sharply higher utility bills this summer.
"Climate scientists think this could be the hottest summer on record or at least close to it," says Mark Wolfe, who heads the National Energy Assistance Directors Association (NEADA).
"So families need to use more of an increasingly expensive product to stay cool this summer. And that's going to be tough."
NEADA is projecting that electricity bills will be 8.5% higher this summer than last, on average, with residents in some Southern states seeing even bigger increases.

(6,770 posts)A few years ago I upgraded my life by moving out of a dingy, drab armpit town in the SW U.S. Low desert in AZ. The Saudis had a significant stake in the local monopoly electric co., APS.
The combination of rising temperatures from global warming--they had to move the winter vegetable season forward by A MONTH because summer lasted so much longer--and the profit-driven price increases from APS were already causing my electric bill to escalate rapidly.
I can only imagine what the residents are experiencing now. Given the corrupt local government, wouldn't surprise me if data centers were being built there despite a falling water table. Bunch of dumbsh*ts--heavily puke, full of global warming deniers including LDS who vehemently disagreed that the warming was anthropogenic.
