Well,it's official. I'm old and have a Cadillac in my right eye.

Gotta have it removed. Anybody have any advice? The doctor said they would replace the lens and my vision would be better. And I may not even need a prescription for that eye anymore. Fingers crossed.🤞

Cataract surgery is one of the more common types of surgeries done. With caveats, I can recommend it. I've had both of my eyes done and it was very successful for me with only minor pain/inconvenience. The eye drops were worse than the surgery for me. Not good at stuff like that. I have known others where it didn't go quite as well, but I'm seeing 20/20 now after a lifetime of wearing glasses for nearsightedness.

Good luck.

but they gave me a choice, go 20/20 so you can see distance without glasses, or with lenses that would allow me to read, but still need glasses for distance. I went for the distance vision, so I need readers and specs for computer work.

I hope you have as simple a process and as much success as I had. It definitely worked for me.

I had both eyes done 12 years ago. I was quite nearsighted and the surgery corrected both of mine to 20/30 or better. The surgery and lenses are even better now.

My vision has been so bad, there's not a prescription strong enough to make it 20/20. 20/40 at its best. I'm pretty psyched about this now!! Thanks.

Even with glasses my vision was terrible. I was a menace on the road, but was too scared to have the surgery. Glad I finally did. It really was no big deal. And the actual surgery was only 8 minutes! Hard to believe!

...had it done on both eyes.
Made a HUGE difference for them.
One of them had one eye not done quite right. He's VA so it wouldn't have cost him anyway, but they told him a correction surgery is free. I guess a lot of eye surgeons guarantee their work.
The other guy, who had no issues, said they told him the sane thing. Different doctor group entirely.
Good luck, but you may not need it. This is routine stuff for the experts.

I struggled with reading difficulties for years because of the anxiety of getting the surgery, and that was a foolish thing to do. Mine went very well, and my vision was corrected from over 20/200 to about 20/25 -- good enough that I don't wear glasses now. The most awesome thing about it was how much brighter things were: After I had the first eye done, I noticed that the other eye was as dark as my now good eye was when looking through sunglasses! I didn't need a flashlight to pick a matching pair of socks out of the drawer!
