Our babydog brings so much joy to our family, we couldn't get through our tough times without her.

Although the word ‘joy’ is spelled with other letters sometimes. Then family…dog…growing stuff…cooking.

Sitting in the kayak on a warm summer day feeling the sun filled breeze drying the lake water from me after a dip in an isolated lake, eyes closed, mentally close to meditation, enjoying the haunting calls of the loons.

Hiking through the pine forest following the foggy breath in front of me far from the sounds of civilization, held in amazement when the slight breeze allowed by the trees shakes off the snow captured on the evergreen branches creating a second snowfall some of which finds its way between my collars tickling down my back causing a slight shiver and a smile on my face.

Little stuff like that.

Many of these do involve family, friends, and pets, but I enjoy solo experiences too. I even have a grudging respect for bad experiences. At one time, I believed my purpose on earth was to help others - and I still consider it a worthy mission - but now I believe experiencing the physical universe is an even more cosmic calling. We’re ambulating this world utilizing carbon from outside this galaxy to carry out all the biological functions of our bodies. It seems a cosmic joke to go to all that trouble without any meaning. And if there’s such a thing as reincarnation, perhaps there’s a threshold for experience before trying out something else for a new lifetime

watching her developments each day and her cheery little chuckles and babbling. Then our pet dog who thinks he is a person and is so lovable and loyal.

Alexander (Great Pyrenees)
Millie (all American long-haired cat)
Scout (Pit Bull/German Shepherd/White Swiss Shepherd mix)

Nothing better than a lazy afternoon curled up with a book and the best creatures in the world.

It's a trend, according to Psychology Today, for today's adult children to abandon their mother particularly.

What a bizarre thing. Forty years of paid work, 58 years of mothering and intense grand-mothering .
My son told me the other day that I have been a slacker all my life.

He later apologized.

I had Hubby for 42 years. Not enough, but still blessed for having him.
