As in he doesnt retrieve i have tossed a stick then i tossed a ball in backyard. Now Dunc will take off in pursuit of objects that i throw yet then he stops flops and rolls in the snow.
Then gets the zoomies running around the yard.
Hes great in other ways cuddling kitchen help in another example he is a great keeper away thief say stealing a sock and looking at me with sock in his mouth.
You want it dad dont you , cue the spaghetti western good bad ugly music playing in background Im thinking okay blondie.
Yea father i know you do well then youre gonna have to chase me down.
Not sure if i legally can demote Dunc from Golden to say bronze retriever or maybe even bust his furry ass down to copper retriever.
Dude needs to get with the program i have told him repeatedly.

(27,742 posts)Ive had several cats over the years who would fetch small items based on preferences , like bottle caps, scrunchies, what have you. One of my three cats is the best Ive seen. She will fetch a scrunchie that I propel like a rubber band off my fingertip for as long as I keep flinging it and she keeps bringing it back. Willow doesnt do it for treats because attention is enough for her. Shed admonish Dunc not to be so food-centric and just fetch for the simple pleasure of the chase.

(4,975 posts)He might have been crossed with an evil genius, as he trained a 2 year old child to 'fetch' and bring the object to him so he could present it to me.

(3,979 posts)Sorry, Type 1 diabetic 40 years, service wasnt an opportunity even for things like JAG or Medics back then so I have little idea about altering rank so I can only speculate if the Dunc paid his Union of Loyal Dogs Dues.

I call her, she comes almost to the door, smirks at me then runs away.

(12,073 posts)A dog may cooperate in human games but it is strictly voluntary. There can be no penalty in the absence of a duty.
It is important to understand that humans work for dogs, not the other way around - at least that is the position taken by our dogs.
