Suddenly have a project
I had planned to update my living room last year after my last kitty passed on, but then my best friend got sick and I helped her all summer and into fall, so I put it off. I adopted her kitty, so I figured I'd put the whole thing on the back burner. But, my away daughter and s-i-l are giving me a couch. If I put a new couch in the room as it is, it is going to look like a new couch in an old room. So, going to paint, and get new carpet. To do that, need to pack the collection of odds and ends in the room, which is a lot, so we can move the furniture. I have a desk computer in the corner, so I need to disconnect and pack that up. Need to remove and store pictures on the walls. Need to donate the old couch.
My local daughter came over today and we got 4 big boxes from one cupboard packed. I waylaid her with a portfolio of 1920s era prints I had mentioned to her recently. It'll will be packed behind the boxes we are storing, so I showed it to her today. She loves it, of course. Even with the detour, we made progress and now that I see that I have room to store the collection of items, and that we can move the furniture into the hall, dining room and kitchen so the work can be done, I'm a little less overwhelmed. I didn't expect to get into this now, but hopefully, I'll get a good price on the work to be done, and the carpet.
My local daughter has located a contractor who will get in touch about painting. If they do the projects I've had on my list, I'll have them do the other things too. I didn't know the people who do my lawn are part of a contracting company that did remodeling for my daughter and s-i-l. Whatever gets done, will be a load off my mind, even if getting from here to there is going to take awhile.
