(24,456 posts)Coco was a tough girl, she survived a lot prior to us rescuing her as a very sick girl from the streets. She didn't take any shit. Once she felt good enough to start moving around she terrorized the other animals - wasn't friendly to them at all! She was ok with our old dog though, mainly because Bud just went ahead with whatever he was doing regardless of her threats so she stopped and tolerated him well. Then we got a new dog! She was so in charge and hell bent on "controlling" him. When he was in the computer room with us, she'd get in the door and wouldn't move. Finley would bark and try to get her away, but she wouldn't move. If he did go past her, she reared up and scratched him - she had fast front paws. So, to prevent a commotion, I'd go stand beside her where he could walk out on the other side. Only then would he leave the room, no matter how badly he wanted out. She had him well trained., you get next to me and you pay a price! Of course it was ok to approach him when she wanted to, but it was always on her terms.
