S.E. Oh The first was at 4:04 pm in Jefferson Township, Jackson County was 3.0-3.1
The second was in Marietta Township Washington County, about 1.5 miles from me, and was about 2.8 I might have felt that one, I heard a thump, thought the cat had knocked into something, but when I checked she wasn't around. I felt off but just for a second. I'm sure what time it was, but I read reports and the thump might have been the results of the earthquake. There was one in Reno last week, too. Fracking.
Interesting times.

(20,090 posts)I read that the people who were settling into this part of Ohio had travel traveled to the Southwest U.S. and were impressed so much that when they got back to Ohio, they named some of the settlements after towns that they'd visited. So we have Reno, New Matamoras and Brownsville.

(20,090 posts)I was on the couch, petting the cat. The house shook, and I heard dishes rattle in the kitchen. No traffic, so I figured it was another earthquake. At noon today saw a confirmation there was a 2.4 about 8:12.
Right after I felt the shake, I looked at the time, was 8:14.
This is the 3rd one in a week, in an area not known for quakes. All under 3.0 but still worrisome. Again, fracking all around. We had a series of earthquakes several years ago and after the source was investigated, whatever agency checked wnfirced regulations, so no more till now. Guess the regulations are out to pasture.

(6,639 posts)The main DYFI page is here: https://earthquake.usgs.gov/data/dyfi/
The page for the event you felt yesterday is here: M 2.4 - 2 km ENE of Reno, Ohio There are maps and details about the quake, or you can leave a report about what you felt (or didn't feel.)
I live in a geologically active area, and that site is my go-to first stop after I feel or hear about a quake.
I will post what I felt and heard. I think I felt the one on 2/3, but was unsure of the time. Last night, I did better, remembered to check the time
This is not normal for us.

(20,090 posts)I filled in a I felt it report, and checked the map. The quake was about 2 miles from my neighborhood. One of my friends in Marietta has felt all of the local quakes.
I can't help wondering what they are doing to gas and water lines. I doubt our infrastructure was meant to handle small quakes this frequently.
