And the first movie I saw in a theatre in my life. I cried when it was over.

were convinced my mother was the model for Mame. And there are a couple scenes where she's so much like Mom I almost believe that.

Several years ago I made a couple of my nieces watch it with me. I said nothing about what some people thought. Right at the start, when Patrick & Nora arrive during the cocktail party, one of them said "She makes me think of Grandma." - I heard the words "that's like Grandma" several times through the movie.

I love Auntie Mame.
