Even one of my eyeballs has decided to drip even though it's not red or looking conjunctivitis like.
But now I'm paranoid. What are the chances I caught bird flu from the birds that I feed on my deck? I mean I know, it's very unlikely for now... But with everything shut down as far as the CDC and other health associations, couple my autoimmune disease with a healthy dose of paranoia and I think I'll just hide under the covers for the next 4 years

(38,033 posts)I thought about the cat that lives on my porch and the fact that the birds like to peck away and his cat food and began to worry about bird flu for him. How long before all of us are just fucking exhausted?

(62,730 posts)Decades ago, Washington Univ. published a research study which indicated filling each ear canal with hydrogen peroxide & letting it bubble till it stops, then repeating in other ear kills germs that cause the common cold.
This must be done lying down & ONLY if you do not have a perforated ear drum.
So after learning about this, I had a contractor working in my home who took ill one day with sxs similar to yours.
I told him about the study & sent him home to try it.
He was back in about 2 hrs. No sniffling, runny nose etc.
Also, if you try this, it is essential, per the studt, to immeduately consume high powered antioxidants. These compounds run around the body & clean up. This is important because many patjogens emit neurotoxins when they die off, whuch can leave you feeling jittery.
I hope you feel better soon!
(Peroxide will bleach haur, fabric, etc., so if you try it, put a towel down under your head & use something to cover the hair around your ear.)

(14,548 posts)Saying that not to knock it but that usually the older home remedies do tend to work. Unfortunately I don't think I have any peroxide at the moment and my current level of energy is so low that the idea is texting at best LOL I'm listening to the snow turned into rain and letting the cat purr on me which is also supposed to be very healing 😉

(455 posts)Recommended it a couple years ago when I had an earache/infection. She prescribed antibiotic drops, but recommended the peroxide for after the drops were done and the worst of the infection gone. I told her my mom had us do that when I was young. She said so did hers. It does seem to help both clean out wax and ease the pain of an earache. 😊

(62,730 posts)Sorry to hear your energy is so low, but glad kitty is purring for you. (Car purring is very close to frequency that comes out of qi gong healers' hands.)

(20,097 posts)I took a short qi gong class. I still try to remember to do the "standing like a tree" exercise.
I took 2 separate tai chi classes at least 15 yrs apart. I did each form steadily for 5 years, with a taper off after of 2 yrs each.
I attribute all that to not having any chronic pains at 71, unless I have gotten injured then any pain will eventually go away.
I very occasionally remember one section "cloud hands", and do that. I did find my written instructions really should renew some of it.
I enjoy kitten and cat vids!

(137 posts)your driver is wearing a mask!) and get tested for flu and Covid. Get a steroid shot to help dry up that nose. Also, you might have a bad case of sinusitis, and a course of antibiotics could be needed.
Also, get a bottle of Robitussin, Hall's Mentholyptus, cranapple or other juice with cranberries in it, beef consomme and chicken broth, chicken noodle soup, chicken and rice soup (easy to digest!) and other soups you like, will feel good on that throat. Theraflu might help but can upset the tummy. Make sure while at the store that you have plenty of aspirin/ibuprofen/tylenol for aches and pains. Otherwise any good otc decongestant will do if you don't get the steroid shot or to augment it.
Refresh eyedrops might help that eye or you might get medicated drops from your doc.
Warm salt water gargles are great, my Dad the career USAF Medic swore by them and I do too. Never tried the h. peroxide in the ear trick except to merely clean out the ear, but will keep it in mind for sure. Cat in lap is always a good idea.
Get well soon, will keep you in my prayers.
