Seasonal invasion of ants has started

Grease ants. I saw some on the floor yesterday and swept them up. More on the counter and sink this morning, so I grimly washed the dishes, decluttered, and wiped the clear areas with pure ammonia.

Not quite Leiningen Versus the Ants. I tried to put up with them, but last year they breached the stove, and that is too much.

4. I stopped ant invasion with......

Powdered sugar and Boraxo. 50/50.

Place in a very small can near where ants are found. This can will be a permanent fixture for the time being. It can be tucked under furnishings, hidden behind.

It took 2 years to make ants a non issue. Still have these cans around the house. Replace ingredients 2X year.
Occasional ant wanders in, but not like when we bought the house. That was a horror show.
Sugar ants.

7. I have grease ants

They don't bother anything but any fat or oil. I hoped by wiping everything down with ammonia, I'd degrease and mess up their scent trails.

Maybe I can mix Boraxo with some fat.

Which laid waste to the hive. Maybe mix into the grease someway. The key is to get the mixture into the hive.

I tried commercial pest control along with everything else that is marketed for ants.
Nothing really worked until I stumbled upon this.

9. I heard a long time ago that borax

kills ants. Older relatives said that sprinkling borax across the door sills stopped them from coming in.

My friend said that she barrier spray on her home foundation, about once a year. She found that effective, but I don't remember which product.

5. I use terro ant bait.

I hate using poisins, but absolutely cannot tolerate bugs in my house, esp the kitchen.

I've not seen any yet this spring. Past 2 years they would be all over coumter. Hopefully, it's wiped the nest out.
