1. Rec'd. The whole album is good; I bought the CD several years ago when I was acquiring more works by Sibelius.

"Finlandia" is a gateway drug. You can practically smell the wind carrying the scent of snowmelt on granite, and spruce trees.

The myths behind the other pieces teach us a little about a culture most of us never learn much about -- almost always a good thing.

2. Sibelius is one of my favs.

My husband was Swedish descent thru and thru. Perhaps why I'm drawn to the culture, etc. in those parts.

3. I'm not. :D My Dad had a huge classical collection, but one day I noted a sparsity in his collection of Sibelius.

Of course he had Finlandia -- we played that in marching band, and he had a version for organ that he liked (HiFi enthusiast that he was) to play occasionally.

But I went off to explore Sibelius on my own.
