Joni was invited to play at the Woodstock festival and wanted to go. However, her manager at the time was David Geffen and he was concerned for her safety and wouldn't let her go.

Crosby, Stills and Nash recorded "Woodstock" but with a more joyous arrangement.

She wrote the song and I never knew that. Never looked on the album to see the accreditation. I don't think they did.
