...we covered this.
I had this idea of replacing those sustaining guitar intervals at open with a sampled choir, and reinforced the Tom hits with timpani.
Then, for the rhythm I funked it up a bit with clavinet.
During "I'll wait in the queue.. " part, I filled it out with choirs again.
The drummer sang it. It was a song we all knew like the back of our hands, so it was easy to fill out a set with it.
When they did the TV episode of our show, the video editor went nuts with psychedelic effects. Over the top stuff.
We quit doing it after about 18 months. The lack of harmonies made it not fit the style we were evolving toward.
Guitar player played a good solo on it, though
As to Cream's version: I had this album. First album I ever bought with my own money.
But, I was supposed to buy Disraeli Gears, for Sunshine Of Your Love.
I guess I got enamored by the idea of getting a double album that I didn't pay attention to the track list.
So, I bought the "wrong" album. Then, I listened to the live disc. This jazz piano kid sure stopped regretting the mistake really fast. Crossroads & Spoonful made it worth buying it.
I still have it! No turntable tp play it on, but I still have it.
