The ornaments were my paternal grandmother's. I bought the vintage aluminum tree from a thrift store a few years back.

(56,111 posts)glass antique bulbs. They were from my maternal grandmother and my mom. I really think they were stolen at one of the sales after I left them in the attic. Much like yours.

(610 posts)Reminds me of going to my Grandparents house when I was a little girl. I have a couple of boxes of their ornaments and will be passing one box of them to my daughter for her tree next year. She and “the Boy” (her boyfriend of six years who she’d probably be married to now if not for their crippling student debt) close on their house at the end of January 2024.
Thank you for sharing!

(12,573 posts)I remember having some of these as a child and my mothers tears whenever one fell to pieces. Thanks for the memories!

(23,452 posts)I also remember the first time my mom put up that aluminum tree. She had a wheel that turned and had different colored slides shining on the tree. We hated it! She loved it. Wish I had it and her ornaments..

(25,564 posts)particular XMAS. The variety was amazing and the different kinds of ornaments we would end up w/ over the years, after they have accumulated, was pretty neat. We did it not because we were poor, but my Mom and Dad wanted to encourage creativity (plus my great grandma and grandma loved making their own ornaments, so kind of a family tradition (Ozarks)).

(8,143 posts)My sister lived in my parents house for a while after my mother died, and may still have a few of them on her tree, but most of them either broke, or got so old and tired looking they were discarded.
It's nice to see pictures of them as I remembered them.
Thanks.

(37,986 posts)That her mother gave all the pretty glass ornaments away to her sister (my aunt) because she had a family first, and that my boy cousins broke them all.
But I still have some that managed to escape the scourge of the boy cousins, lol
Super photos and they brought back some memories… TY Mousetoescamper.
