(18,256 posts)The Coolpix P1000 is a insane camera. Great shot. From your angle (and is there any other?) it looks like a tanker, something I am very familiar with.
But there was only one Supertanker 747, and it was sold for freight duty, IIRC.
Perfect lighting. I keep my camera near the front door. Because "Ya never know"

(9,694 posts)looks like the last 747-400 from Evergreen > Global SuperTanker Services was sold to National Airlines in '21 and is still in cargo service as N936CA. What an enduring air frame, maybe like the DC 3 of yore
I learned quickly to never be far from my camera, starting on the DMZ where I missed some mind blowing shots that now are just lodged in my memory.
Long ago my wife asked, "haven't we photographed this before?" I reminded her of the words of the sage, Forrest Gump, "A Photo is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.". (or something like that, lol)

(18,256 posts)It flew directly over my home, no payload delivered, at some scary low altitude.
Let's just say, one can just barely make out "Spirit of John Muir"
I carried a Coolpix P510 for some 10 years. It did everything I needed, including really good close-ups and 1000mm. shots, so I bypassed the DSLR days entirely. I finally went mirrorless with the Z series, and all the old "F" lenses work fine, non-AI included, (they were verboten on DSLR's)
The P510, which used to be my "big" digital camera, is still working and is my carry everywhere camera now.
I got this shot on Highway 41 out the driver's window, "aim in the general direction and click." (cropped below)
33 mm. effective focal length, just a bit narrower than the 24 mm setting.
