Has anyone watched Patience on PBS?

The premise sounds interesting and I read it is a remake of a French-Belgian show.

How graphic is the show? I'm pretty squeamish, and my husband and I usually watch

TV during the dinner hour. Is it comparable to Midsomer Murders or Vera? Or is it

much more graphic. Thanks for any advice!

1. I don't find it graphic at all.

It is more puzzle solving than graphic. The actress playing the lead is autistic. There are other autistics in the cast. There is a woman who has only one hand. I like the inclusion of these people. I have an adult daughter who is autistic and also has ADHD.

The only ick I got on the last episode I watched was her pets. It wasn't graphic at all.

Iʻd be happier if PBS mysteries didn't always involve a dead person but I guess that's why they are mysteries?

3. Astrid is the French show it's basically copied right down to some of the storylines.

Astrid is in French with English subtitles. Patience seems slow to me, but okay.

I don't recall any gore in the few episodes that I've seen. You should be OK. ❤️

IMDb said graphic scenes when I watched the trailer, so I was afraid to watch the show.

6. We like it. Not too graphic. Well acted.

Certainly not as graphic as a lot of American shows like "Bones" or "CSI".

7. Give it a try. I thoroughly enjoy it and think you will too.

The lead actress is superb. She plays an autistic character who is super sensitive to sound. Any gore is minimal; just close your eyes 👀 like I do.

... without much gore, so it shouldn't put you off your Cheerios, so to speak.
The French actress portrayed the autism of the character more believably, in our opinion. The disorder spans a fairly broad spectrum, and she really nailed it.

My husband and I mostly watch PBS, Britbox and AcornTV. We gave up on cable

a few years ago, and we don't miss it at all. The last show I watched that had a lead autistic

character was Chasing Shadows. Reece Shearsmith was excellent in it in my opinion. The only

problem with Chasing Shadows was the show was cancelled leaving the story line unfinished.

Really looking forward to trying Patience this weekend! Appreciate everyone's input.

12. Saw the first episodes from both series, and they were excellent!

I think I like the French-Belgian version the best, but both series have their merits.

13. I liked it - but watch from the beginning

As the show progresses, you'll see Patience learn to communicate with her colleagues and see them learn to appreciate and interact with her.
