who was the powderful being who is finally stopped from destroying the galaxy by the sudden appearance of his parents? was he dressed like napoleonic?
'the squire of gothos" trelane played by william campbell.
Suddenly two energy beings appear and call out to Trelane, ordering him to "come along", and lecturing him, as parents, for his misbehavior. He then disappears, and the two beings follow after apologizing to Kirk, who returns to the ship.
campbell seems to have played teen age punks on a couple of perry mason episodes. ah, i didn't recognize him on other star trek episodes when he played klingons.

(67,602 posts)de Lancie himself was unaware of the character when they filmed Encounter at Farpoint.
If de Lancie hadn't played Q as Picard's flamboyantly over-the-top protagonist, and if he and Campbell hadn't borne a vague resemblance to each other, the comparison itself would fall apart.
And from a narrative standpoint, this desire to force a character lineage has the effect of diminishing the universe and cheapening the linked characters.
