And I have made some plans:
A co-worker and I (out of a group of 7) are using a car-sharing thing to pick up a car at the airport, then making a bee-line to Rocky Mountain National Park (day pass already purchased). We will get there after the timed entry period is over, so hopefully won't be too big of a line to get in. Driving up Trail Ridge Road, stopping at Alpine Visitor Center, then trying to catch the sunset/stargaze. Then we haul ass back to the airport and get a ride to the hotel in the Denver Tech Center.
On Wednesday, we are considering catching a soccer game.
Thursday is open---may go to Linger Restaurant (located in a former mortuary) then hang out on Larimer Square and/or the 16th Street Mall.
Friday: Widespread Panic concert at Red Rocks
Saturday: Flight back home leaves at crack of dawn, so will probably be running on 2 hours of sleep.
Should be tiring but fun!

(1,354 posts)Might want to pick up some Yaktrax for your hiking shoes, there are still snowy trails at higher elevations at RMNP and while this week is finally warmer, the higher elevations there might not all melt. We were there one July 4th and there was still snow on the higher trails! I live in the foothills, (former New Yorker) and this is an awesome state!! Enjoy your trip and perfect week, weve had the rainiest past month ever! Everything should be green and gorgeous!

(4,338 posts)Trail Ridge Road is pretty high up and altitude headaches can be sudden and severe.
It will be gorgeous for sure, though! Hope you have a great trip.
Fortunately or unfortunately, we'll be getting the park around 3:30 pm, so we'll probably just be driving/looking most of the time. Won't have much time to explore.

(2,361 posts)Sounds like an awesome place! That might be too far for us, though, given our time constraints. We'll have to play it by ear. We do have a pesky conference to attend

When people tell you to shut up, ask for a burger and you can pay them back on Tuesday.

(2,361 posts)I was on the 16th St. Mall e-biking with a friend (she was on an e-scooter). Popped into a Mexican restaurant to wait it out.
I missed the hail storm at Red Rocks that made the national news---I think that was Wednesday. 4 of the 8 of us went to see Widespread Panic at the Red Rocks on Friday. Took a "party bus" out from Zeppelin Station. Ubered back to DTC and got exactly 1 hour of sleep before we had to get up at 2:30 to fly home.
Ugh. I spent most of yesterday/part of today recovering---but it was worth it!
I went to a restaurant that I had been to in February--Linger--and it was not as good as it was then and the people that went with gave me a hard time about the suggestion.
But, major events that I enjoyed:
Went straight from airport upon arrival to Rocky Mountain National Park. Absolutely no traffic, problems, or issues. Powerful natural beauty. Ate dinner in a Mexican restaurant in Estes Park next to a river.
Went to an Armenian restaurant--House of Bread--that was accessible from the hotel's courtesy shuttle.
Went downtown on Thursday (e-biked for first time, had fun, caught in some rain).
Red Rocks---amazing place/great band. Bus let us off at the top but a friend and I walked down to the bottom for some concessions. I don't know if was the elevation/less oxygen or our general travel tiredness, but the walk back up wiped us out!
I don't know how to post pictures but when I figure it out I will update.
