WE GOT 2ND PLACE!!!
"Grocery prices, rent, you know, all that is getting higher, and theyre not paying any more," said Kwame Ratliff, who lives in West Palm Beach. "I am looking to move, because it is a little expensive here."
According to personal finance website WalletHub, Florida ranked Florida number 49, nearly dead last as the least affordable state.
"What should we do to kind of get that ranking up?" asked WPTV reporter Joel Lopez.
"Well for starters, maybe make the state a little more affordable," said Chip Lupo, a writer and analyst with WalletHub.

(24,529 posts)the cost component does keep going up and up, and a lot of people I suspect are looking at other states to live in, besides FL. But I suspect that other states that become popular destinations for the snowbirds every year, those states will get more and more expensive too.

(8,825 posts)Can't imagine it's any better elsewhere in the US. What makes us 2nd in affordability is home insurance. It's been gradually going up at 15% a year for seemingly ever, but last year it doubled. Desantis is MIA on the issue. The foxes are in the henhouse.

(14,827 posts)This article is from one source, WalletHub. I'm retired living in a villa/townhouse/condo. No state tax.
No Social Security tax. I get $25,000 off property tax assessment of my home as a full time florida resident. Crazy high auto and home insurance and horrible traffic during tourist season.
In 2023, 511,000 people left Florida, while 637,000 moved in.
A few bad hurricanes will get people moving..
I looked up the difference in cost of living from New England (where I would like to live) to Florida and it's about a 13% increase to move up there. Plus the cold at no charge.. Many transplants tell me they sold their crazy expensive home up north and bought a "bargain" here in florida and had money left over.
My problem is I LIKE the sunshine and heat..
Fuck MAGA and the rupuke/lobby assholes running this state
