Attorney General Andy Beshear will intervene in Kentucky State Universitys lawsuit against a student newspaper that requested records about sexual misconduct.
Like the University of Kentucky, which sued its student newspaper,
The Kentucky Kernel, Kentucky State has sued
The Kernel in Franklin Circuit Court, disputing Beshears late January ruling that the university violated the Open Records Act by refusing to release the requested records.
KSU filed the suit Feb. 23. No court date has been set.
A Fayette County judge sided with UK against the student newspaper after it requested investigation documents regarding a professor in a sexual harassment case. UK refused to allow Beshear to confidentially review the disputed documents, and Kentucky State has done the same.
Beshear will intervene in the lawsuits to uphold the offices right to confidentially review the disputed documents.
