The National Football League on Friday said that a preliminary investigation found that the New England Patriots used under-inflated footballs during the first half of their AFC Championship victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
While the evidence thus far supports the conclusion that footballs that were under-inflated were used by the Patriots in the first half, the footballs were properly inflated for the second half and confirmed at the conclusion of the game to have remained properly inflated, the league said in a news release, its first on deflate-gate.
The NFL also said the investigation is being led by NFL Executive Vice President Jeff Pash and attorney Ted Wells of the law firm of Paul Weiss. Wells was brought on to offer an independent perspective, according to the release.

(26,052 posts)and how can the NFL know that the first half they were under-inflated without correcting that when if was discovered?
Something is not making sense here. How could the NFL know undrer-inflated in the first half and properly inflated in the second?
Did they test them both halfs?

(26,052 posts)in their press conferences? Didn't Brady say he was surprised about the issue when he appeared on some radio show on Monday following the game and that is why he made light of it?
If the officials oversaw this re-inflation - wouldn't they have informed both teams of this when it was going on? Why the surprise?
Something is very fishy here.
