(28,713 posts)For what it's worth, I'm going with Moriarity for county attorney and Witt for sheriff.

(49,740 posts)Dimick has the excellent one but... on her home page the first sentence is:
I would be the first black county attorney in Minnesota history, but then adds that this should not be the reason for vote for her.
It did turn me off. I think that "identify politics" has turned off many rural and working class voters from the Democratic party.
Interesting though, looking at the ones recommended by the strib:
Dimick from the North side, or Winkler from Golden Valley.
For the Sheriff, Hanson did a dirty trick on Witt saying, in his introduction that she has a house in Lakeville.
When it was her turn she said Yes, I have a house in Lakeville, kudos to me for working hard and having a house there.
I don't know, perhaps we do need a sheriff who plays dirty.
So... perhaps at the poll I will know whom to select..

(28,713 posts)but she turned me off before the Hennepin County convention when she more less told me I was stupid when I was honest with her & told her I was leaning to supporting Moriarity. That just isn't how you approach a convention delegate and eventual voter for support. I get the impression that it's her way or the highway and I don't know if that's what the office needs.
It is clear that the powers that be in Hennepin County don't like Moriarity & I'd love to know the whole story there. I get the sense that there's a lot more to it than how she ran the Public Defender's office. One of the things Dimick repeated to me was Mary was hard on her staff to which I could only reply, "They say that about Klobuchar." (No response).
I thought Witt was impressive at the convention & she has a good background for being sheriff.
Not that it means all that much but Moriarity & Witt both have the DFL endorsement.

And, apparently she won a $300,000 settlement against the board for not reappointing her..
Glad that you reported about your interaction with Dimick. I was changing back and forth but now will vote for Winkler.

(55,655 posts)Shes a tough on crime type, which is good, but she doesnt seem to think the County Attorneys Office needs reform. I ended up voting for Moriarty but I liked Winkler too. It was Moriaritys greater experience that led me to choose her.
