I have just returned from CONvergence, the annual Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror convention held in the Hyatt Regency downtown. It was a lot of fun and everyone was glad to be out and about. It was a fully masked event as well as requiring full and current inoculations per CD guidelines. This event is one of the things I really like about being here in the Twin Cities.

(P.S.: This was for the photo session, so that is why I do not have a mask on in this picture. There were only the participants and the photog there.)

(19,330 posts)Get tested. All Con goers were notified that there were 4 attendees who tested positive for COVID-19. I was one of many volunteers at Registration, though my part was brief. I have been going since 2004. I was also badge checking as well.
What a well run Con it was too. So happy to see so many families with children there. What good parents who are raising their kids to be critical thinkers by encouraging them to read.
On Friday, we had to turn away some people eho fid not meet the CDC guidelines for vaccination requirements. They were not happy at all. As I politely explained that we had to follow the rules as well.
I saw you over the weekend. I was dressed in 3 different pieces as my reality was my more darker side. Yesterday I had on my Blood Countess gown, red and Black choker necklace, with a tricorn hat with black and dark red plumes. I was masked at all times, save for when I was at the lounge area in front of Con Suite.
Already thinking of a new costume for next year

(6,968 posts)I heard about the trouble on Friday. This was all mentioned in the literature on the website, as well as covered multiple times in registration. Crazy that they thought they could just waltz in and flaunt the rules.
I was more than pleased to see all the kids there as well. Glad that the torch is to be passed. I was dressed as Kingpin on Saturday evening... specifically what he was wearing in the last episode of 'Hawkeye'. I was chatting about this same topic and the other person mentioned something about being a bit wary of kids walking around without escort. I replied that only a freaking moron would dare to try anything with anywhere from 5 to 35 people standing around with swords and axes and who would gladly jump at an excuse to use them. (LOL.) Plus, everyone there would protect any young attendee without hesitation, so they are very safe at the Con.
Your outfit was very nice. I had a great idea for there Masquerade but was unable to finish it due to a shoulder injury. I will be doing it next year. I will have to repair my 'Dr. Killinger' costume as it was being very difficult. Already looking forward to the next one. And, it will be in July, as it used to be. Should be great!
