Rep. Ilhan Omar seeks ICE records of Minnesotans arrested
U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar is challenging Immigration and Customs Enforcement to provide documentation of Minnesotans pulled over.
ICE said Wednesday it has absolutely zero record of its officers or agents pulling over Congresswoman Omars son, disputing her account that federal immigration agents stopped her son over the weekend and asked him to prove his citizenship.
The conflicting accounts come as federal immigration enforcement has become more visible across the Twin Cities in recent weeks, heightening fear in immigrant communities.
Called Operation Metro Surge, ICE agents have stepped up their presence in Minneapolis, St. Paul and several nearby suburbs.
The Department of Homeland Security says it has resulted in more than 400 arrests so far, although the Minnesota Star Tribune has been unable to verify that number. The agency has not released a list of those detained.
Minnesota is the latest state to be targeted by the administration of President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly criticized the states large Somali population. He did so again in an address to the nation Wednesday night.

Exactly! Let's see the records and arrest warrants! Who do they have, where are they, and why?
ACLU is active in MN about the arrests and making court filings. Yet, they don't know where all the people are.
