People's Energy Cooperative announces election results in Oronoco

ORONOCO, Minn. — People's Energy Cooperative announced the results of its director elections at its 89th Annual Meeting.

John Winter and Jerome Wooner, both current board members, ran unopposed in their districts and each received 1,769 votes. Winter represents District 3, and Wooner represents District 5.

In District 7, incumbent Jeff Orth defeated challenger Matt Kitzmann with 1,007 votes to 711 votes. The meeting took place at the Rochester International Event Center and was broadcast to Plainview's Copperfield Terrace.

Board Chair Jerry Wooner reflected on the cooperative's history during the meeting. He highlighted key decisions that strengthened local communities over the past 90 years, from bringing electricity to rural areas to the 2015 Alliant territory acquisition that expanded membership by nearly 50 percent.
