City of Albuquerque will provide free child care to essential workers
The City of Albuquerque will be offering free child care to essential workers who need help for children ages 3-5, Mayor Tim Keller announced Friday. The city paired up with paid volunteer teachers to open up Herman Sanchez Development Center starting Monday, April 13.
Parents, qualified as essential workers, can call 505-767-6504 to register their child.
With schools and daycares closed, frontline workers are caught between a rock and a hard place. We are counting on these folks to keep our community runningthey can continue to count on us to provide critical childcare services, said Mayor Tim Keller.
Classrooms will be limited to no more than five children and four teachers. In addition the city says theyll be implementing additional safety precautions including eliminating group meals, staggering drop off and pickup times and meeting families at the door to limit the people in and out of the center.
