Meet the 2026 candidates for Washington State Supreme Court Position #1: Scott Edwards
With five of the nine positions on the Washington State Supreme Court up this year, voters have important decisions to make about who should sit on the most important bench in the land. Yet judicial candidates often receive far less public attention than the consequential decisions they may eventually be called upon to make.
To help voters make informed choices this summer and autumn, NPI is taking a look at each of the sixteen candidates in a series of posts examining each candidates professional background, legal experience, campaign themes, fundraising, and responses to questions about the role of the court. In this installment, well meet Scott Edwards.
An attorney with Ballard Spahr, Edwards has practiced law in Washington for approximately thirty years, focusing primarily on constitutional, appellate, and state tax law. He previously worked at Perkins Coie (19992010) and Bogle & Gates (19961999).
He has argued more than a dozen cases before the Washington Supreme Court and regularly represents clients in constitutional and complex legal disputes.
