WISN 12 Hosts Rescheduled Wisconsin Supreme Court Debate on April 2nd
MILWAUKEE, WI (March 26, 2026) The debate between the candidates for the open seat on Wisconsins Supreme Court has been rescheduled. The candidates, Wisconsin Court of Appeals Judges Maria Lazar and Chris Taylor, will now participate in the debate at WISN 12 studios on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. It was originally being held on Wednesday, March 25, 2025.
We wish Judge Taylor a quick recovery, says Shawn Oswald, president and general manager of WISN 12. Through the debate, Wisconsin voters look forward to gaining deep, meaningful insights into the candidates judicial perspectives on a number of important issues ahead of election day.
Prior to postponing after Judge Taylors kidney stone diagnosis, Marquette University Law School was hosting the WISN 12 Commitment 2026 Wisconsin Supreme Court Debate. Due to scheduling conflicts, it will now be held at WISN 12 studios, still moderated by Upfront hosts and WISN 12 News journalists Matt Smith and Gerron Jordan. Given the limited space in the studio, there will not be a live audience or external press on site. The debate is being broadcast on WISN 12 and will livestream on wisn.com and on Very Local - WISN 12s free streaming app.
The rescheduled debate takes place ahead of the spring elections on April 7, 2026. While the outcome of the election will not affect the ideological balance of the states high court, it would either reduce or expand the existing liberal majority.
