Im thinking WD40 but If theres something else that doesnt smell so strong Id be glad to hear it.
I have a kitchen drawer Where i keep all kinds of stuff (doesnt everybody?). I just now cleaned out some of it, at least a small portion. And several things have bits of hard old rubber band clinging to them.

Damn I shouldve been a chemical engineer. Is that the right kind of engineer for this kind of stuff?

(32,466 posts)A poster (mopinko) had mentioned steam so I tried hot water.
I boiled a cup of hot water and then put it in a bowl and put the objects in the bowlthey were all small object so that worked. After letting them soak a few minutes I was able to remove the goo from the objects.
