Anyone know why this happens with bluesky posts ?

When I open posts from bluesky here I see this

Then after reloading it many times it says this

After reloading more times it may or not show the image
It also doesn’t respond to clicking on it like it used to sending me to Bsky
where the post shows up , now it just goes to random pages that have 0 to do with the pic

Is it bc they are .png files ?

This just started happening several days ago …

On another Bsky post just now it opens fine

And it’s a .png also

So it seems to be random occurrences

I just opened another Bsky post and it was blank blue
So I just sat and waited …… and then it loaded after about 30 seconds

The delay , if it is just a delay began about 3 days ago

A pop-up box tells you if they are.

It does say it may have been deleted but it hasn’t since it may load eventually

I think it’s just some sort of slowdown happening

VIdeos send me over to Bluesky.

How they embed on DU is due to admin magic. I can't comment on that.

If you get a png file, IMO, that's because someone posted a snapshot of the video or just a picture.

I noticed a small delay (it's a busy day) and perhaps a slowdown is reported as an image not found (or some slowness in the bluesky database). Just a wild guess.

When things get really nutty for me, I suspect that my browser's javascript has lost its mind, so I restart the browser, or even the computer (It's all solid-state, so that happens really fast)

I *do* expect things to be a bit odd at times, because I load up lots of extensions. and they can interact in strange ways.

Even I don't version it. One time, it did something odd and I went to mozilla and downloaded a new copy.

All my settings and extensions showed up OK, even with the replacement firefox app.

Since I've never seen this, I can't really comment. A quick web search turned up only 2024 stuff.

Try another browser? (just to test)

I use Firefox, Safari and Opera because I got them all to work with the GhostText extension, but that's another matter altogether.

Good luck with a nasty problem. Check extensions? Proxy or VPN settings?

Sometimes if I wait it will load, other times I get the message posted above that it's been removed.

I don't have any soc media accts.

Apparently I'm not alone with this happening

Going to speculate it’s coming from Bsky … for whatever reason and it’s not my browser etc

On Bluesky to post an image as we do on DU? That is, post a url or image link?

If so, you can just right click, copy the image and paste into your BlueSky post. I'd imagine that if you're seeing a blank, then the original image has been deleted.

I'd imagine the same thing would apply - if the owner of the image removed it then it would vanish from Bluesky. Either that or servers overloaded.
