I like Katie Porter-D, if she gets appointed CA will have a Female US Senator.

I also prefer Linda Sanchez due to the fact that Sanchez represents a Congressional district that is more Democratic friendly than Porters. Linda Sanchez is also more progressive than her sister Loretta. Linda Sanchez also has more seniority in the US House than Porter.
If Linda Sanchez gets appointed to the US Senate in 2023/2024- She will be 54 years old, she can serve as many terms as she wish plus her 20 plus years in the US House.

gravitas of a Senator but hard to see two male Senators being selected by Newsome.

In AZ, Jon Kyl was appointed to McCains US Senate seat.
This gives none of the Democratic candidates for the CA US Senate special election an advantage.
