Related: About this forumDid Ukraine Just Effectively Disable a Third of Russia's Shadow Fleet in One Strike? - William Spaniel
Earlier today, Ukraine struck one of Russia's "shadow fleet" vessels as it was transiting the Mediterranean Sea. Today's video looks at the logistical consequences. Some back-of-the-envelope calculations show that if Russia abandons taking the Suez Canal shortcut, Russia effectively loses between 27% and 37.5% of its fleet. Thus, unless Russia figures out a solution to this problem, it faces some severe economic consequences.

(31,063 posts)Ukraine has been blowing up Russian oil depots, refineries, pipelines, and now they have underwater drones that are blowing up oil tankers, Krasnov has a blockade on Venezuela, and fuck the law of supply and demand the fossil fuel industry is keeping the price of gasoline low in the US to help Krasnov or inflation would be much higher.
I'm done believing the fairy tales about how the prices of oil and gasoline are determined, it's all bullshit. How do we know that OPEC increased or decreased the output of oil?
The fossil fuel industry is paying back Krasnov for letting them drill off the coasts of Florida and Alaska, for letting them drill on our government land, for gutting fuel regulations, for gutting fossil fuel regulations, air and water regulations.
It's all one big criminal enterprise. The invisible hand of the market all right.

(13,939 posts)The fact that Ukraine has made Russia look weak has done a lot to damage the myth that they could just run over Nato. If they were smart. they would offer a REAL peace and be able to sell their oil. Of course, just like Trump will NOT allow that to happen.

(31,063 posts)I think that Putin's advisors are afraid to tell him the truth about the war. I do believe that he is catching on though since it appears he is mobilizing an enormous force to go all out. Over a million Russian casualties and counting are getting harder to hide.
