There were several cases of daycare workers charged with child abuse. One was in Maplewood, N.J.

Margaret Kelley Michaels. She served about two years before being exonerated. She then sued the county and got a couple'a $m.
I believe one case in Mass. still has people in the slammer.

(11,929 posts)2. I watched 'Indictment: The McMartin Trial' the other night, a movie about the McMartin child abuse trial.
It's streaming now on Prime. The 1995 made-for-tv movie showed how innocent people's lives can be completely ruined by false accusations, out-of-control police and prosecutors, and a media only interested in sensationalism. The McMartin case was a true witch hunt.

I am a McMartin Preschool alum. Virginia McMartin was in my grandmothers bridge club, and I went all through school with Virginias grand daughter. Tragic what happened.
