who is writing a Nanowrimo novel

2. Aren't you supposed to be writing a brand new novel

for Nanowrimo?

Or did they change that rule since I last did it?

3. A lot of people use it to finish a novel

technically it is where you are supposed to write a new novel but a lot of people use it to write a draft of of novel they have been working on. I procrastinated until May to write the second draft of my novel I wrote from November 1 to Christmas (hit 75,000 words and finished it on Christmas Day!). I will never take months writing off again.

4. That rather violates the intention of Nanowrimo.

They want the participates to write a first draft, keep track of their word count, and hopefully get at least 50,000 words written.

I suppose feeling the push to do a rewrite in the thirty days is admirable, but it's really not what Nanowrimo is for.
