For those of you who like Scandinavian mysteries, Henning Mankell, author of the Kurt Wallander series, has come out with a new one. It's called "An Event in Autumn." Here's the plot thingy, from the Barnes and Noble website:
After nearly thirty years in the same job, Inspector Kurt Wallander is tired, restless, and itching to make a change. He is taken with a certain old farmhouse, perfectly situated in a quiet countryside with a charming, overgrown garden. There he finds the skeletal hand of a corpse in a shallow grave. Wallanders investigation takes him deep into the history of the house and the land, until finally the shocking truth about a long-buried secret is brought to light.
Wow! I like this series, I've read all of it that's come out in the U.S. except for the last one ('The Troubled Man,' which I still haven't finished yet). I am going to the store later on to see if they have it.

(29,503 posts)when I tried to read Sidetracked, it was just SO heavy and depressing, I just couldn't continue past page 100. Then I watched one of the filmed versions of one of his books, and again, I didn't find too much about it which I'd call entertaining.

I've read the entire Wallender series including The Troubled Man - and I was very sad that it seemed to be the final Wallender book. This new one is referred to as a "short novel" on Fantasic Fiction, and I'm wondering if it takes place somewhere back in time from the final Wallender book, or if it follows that one chronologically - that last one seemed so final.
