at the first reach we are seeking evil the glutton and sloth
nestling in the deepest sleep down to the darkest dream
every heart and soul leaking desire all want and need lost
where demons like spiders creep so explicit and obscene
bound to imagine of lust as love a pleasure in the hunger
to forever take yet to never give a hoard of valued scraps
taking the steps that lead above in and out of the blunder
view goodness which does not live tied up in death traps
clinging onto the drifting flotsam shipwrecked in the night
cries and wails piecing as silent arrows of plaintive sound
false hope bursts and blossoms with each desperate sight
limbs waterlogged no more pliant awaiting to be drowned
as breath bubbles fleeing the lungs losing the final battles
clutching at the ladder’s slick rungs hearing death’s rattles
