LIV Golf's New Orleans Debut Set to Be Canceled After Funding Questions
LIV Golfs debut event in New Orleans this summer is set to be canceled, according to multiple local reports that surfaced late Monday afternoon.
Last August, league and state officials announced a deal to play LIV Golf Louisiana at the South Course at New Orleans City Park Bayou Oaks June 2528. Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry lured LIV by agreeing to pay a $5 million hosting fee and spend a further $2.2 million on renovations to the city-owned golf course.
But the golf tournament will not be played as planned in June, according to New Orleans-based TV station WDSU News Channel 6, which was first to report the news, and Nola.com. An official announcement is expected Tuesday.
The development comes just 12 days after questions emerged about LIVs future, with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia reportedly no longer funding the league after its 2026 season.
