Myles Garrett has requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns. The star pass rusher announced his request in a statement on Monday, acknowledging his admiration for Cleveland but emphasizing his desire to win a Super Bowl.
"As a kid dreaming of the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl -- and that goal fuels me today more than ever," Garrett said in a statement, via NFL.com. "My love for the community of Northeast Ohio and the incredible fanbase of the Cleveland Browns has made this one of the toughest decisions of my life. These past eight years have shaped me into the man that I am today.
"While I've loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won't allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl.

Browns say they're not entertaining offers for Garrett, but they should. Team needs to stockpile draft choices having lost so many on the Watson trade. I'd love him in San Francisco, but the 49ers are in a similar boat -- still smarting from the Trey Lance fiasco.

(11,847 posts)While they could surely use an edge rusher of that caliber to complement Bosa, some of their top tier players are approaching their sell-by date. I believe they can make do without Deebo, but they'd need to add an awful lot to make an offer that would cause Cleveland to even take notice. Both he and CMC are both pretty banged up, and old before their time, which is obviously a result of their style of play. Can't let Green go, even though he's knocking on the door of 40 - he's all but irreplaceable, given the vast store of draft picks they don't have.

I agree -- can't afford to lose these picks. They're the future.

Still amazed Dallas took him.

(71,385 posts)...pairing him with Sweat would be a killer tandem, but they need so much depth on both lines that I doubt they will pursue it.if they get him, the line pool will be as shallow as the last 4 seasons and they've done poorly or little to address it so far.

(221 posts)It's likely Garrett will command two #1's plus. The Bears have too many needs to give up that kind of draft capital. It's too bad; he'd look really good in a Bears uniform.

(71,385 posts)They can, in fact, afford him with the cap room they have, but it would be money ill-spent.
Not sure why you think we're disagreeing.

(161 posts)Are the best fit. They need another edge rusher and not much else, so can afford to give draft picks for him.
