I attended the Hands Off protest in the city where I live. There were about 2,000 people there.

I made a really nice sign about protecting Federal Parks, Public Lands and Federal workers. There were a lot of really good signs about medicare, social security, public lands, democracy, and how Trump is completely insane. There were American flags, upside down American flags, Ukrainian flags, and Canadian Flags.

There were speakers who spoke about how they depended on medicaid and/or social security, there was someone who talked about how democrats need more people in Washington like Cory Booker, someone talked about all the damage Trump was doing to democracy...

And then they brought up a woman who was introduced as being a member of the Socialist party and who has been out protesting for a year and a half.....I knew exactly what was coming...
Right on cue she immediately started a rant about "the genocide in Gaza...."

So that was it. I sighed and I left. I take this experience as me being told that this is yet one more space where Jews are not welcome. Well, I guess some Jews, like those who are members of JVP are welcome.

But not me.

Who are these people really? They did so much damage to the Democratic candidates last fall and now they show up again. And no, until I see them at an anti republican or anti trump protest I really can’t believe they are anything except disrupters.

There was and has been a thread of Anti-Blackness in Palestinian American community.

Since 1908 - our natural ally has been Jewish Americans. Jewish Americans have never asked us to wait. Our fight has been the same one.

I'm sorry that happened. That movement was problematic last year - and now in a MagAmerica - they are STILL trying to center themselves. They can take a ticket and wait in line. Not a single one of them will lift a finger to help a Black.American or Jewish American family when the Klan comes calling. They won't.

We are just collateral damage in their minds. And personally? I will never forget or forgive.

I don't think most people have any awareness of what you wrote about here. Americans are poorly educated when it comes to history, and especially when it comes to the history of people who aren't white. They certainly have no knowledge or understanding of the history and relationships that exists between other cultures.

Black American enthralled by the Free Palestine movement and its many layers of anti-Semitism will be propelled into learning about The Niagara movement and then the founding of the NAACP.

We are better together. We can't do it alone. My appearance doesn't show my heritage. I knew my Grandpa's parents. Had them well into their 90's. Grammy Hannie who made certain I was able to do summer camp at my local JCC so I would know "who" I am.

I did, however, make two canvassing trips to Wisconsin from Chicago for Crawford.

My days of activism ended ended on October 7. My electoral activism will never end.

Deep in my gut I *feel* Harris was an easy target because of race and gender - and who she is married to.

Young Black Americans who are making an active choice to turn their backs on the very people who have been our strongest allies in America for over 100 years - are being read for filth by their elders. It's starting now.

This was in The Forward and pretty much sums up what Jews on the left are feeling/experiencing from a side that is supposed to support minorities: Jews at Tufts are furious over ICE seizing a pro-Palestinian grad student. But they’re wary of joining protests for her.

More and more, Jews are getting the reminder, we aren't American Jews or Jewish Americans, we are Jews living in America. Anti-Semitism is ignored or scoffed at (in best case scenarios) or defended and promoted. BOTH sides are doing it, BOTH sides (almost always) ONLY call out the OTHER side and deny anti-Semitism exists on THEIR side. It is literally a pinscher moment for many Jews. Groups and issues which are liberal are pushing out Jews and dividing up which are "The good ones and which are the kikes". Jews are expected to "go into the closet" in respect to their Jewishness. Excuses and harassment, especially 'splainin', have become the new normal.

"Are you now or have you ever been a Zionist or supporter of Israel" is happening in social "justice" spaces, including groups like the GLBT, which really pisses me off, as one can image as I am a member of that minority too! While the left is NOWHERE as extreme or violent, bigotry is still bigotry and shouldn't be waved away as inconsequential.

We will make our way; we always do. Thankfully, we do have some allies, and I hope some of them will pick up the mantle and fight when we can't or are just to worn down. We need them.

Jews are getting a wake up call. American Jews grew complacent since the mid-20th century, falsely believing that they have been accepted into the American landscape. The message now is loud: "Not so fast."
