Cyclone Alfred

All over bar the shouting, but landfall left a trail of destruction particularly in Hervey Bay which missed the winds but had an amazing amount of tropical rainfall in a few hours.

My sister lives there - she dealt with minor flooding yesterday, and is on the way to her shop this morning to assess the damage.

Few seconds into the video - kangaroos in floodwater - don't worry, they swim well!

No danger to me - I'm way down in the south east, across the strait from Tasmania. Plenty of rain last night though, didn't need to water the garden today.

Only one life lost - 61 yo man in northern NSW swept away in floodwaters which is pretty sad.

In my neighboring town, there is a street that has flooding. Water builds up in the sewage system underneath the street. It raises the manhole cover out of its placement and moves it, leaving a 2ft diameter hole in the road.

People try to drive on the flooded road and a car inevitably takes a sudden drop as a front wheel goes down a couple of feet.

The car is then ruined.

She does pop into DU at times as Flying Fox but only has a couple of posts.

Sounded pretty upbeat when we spoke this morning.
