2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forum"Hamilton Electors" spread the word on this group
http://www.hamiltonelectors.com/What do we want to achieve?
Our goal is simple: persuade 37 Electors to either change their vote from Donald Trump to another qualified individual, or abstain from voting altogether.
This will trigger a vote among the US House of Representatives on who will be our next President. With a new vote comes a new opportunity for new leadership.
We urge them to select a Reasonable Republican who does not have Donald Trumps questionable ethics, lack of policy knowledge and lack of relevant experience.
We urge our fellow Electors to unify behind a President whos fit to lead and to pick the best person for the job of Commander-in-Chief.

(54,770 posts)1. Not sure Mike Pence, or anyone like him, would be an improvement.

Trump is an existential threat to the republic. Pence merely has bad policy ideas. Trump wants to be the American version of Putin. Pence is extremely conservative but he will not try to become a strongman dictator.

(54,770 posts)7. You have a point, although Pence is just another kind of hate monger.

(56,844 posts)8. The media loves Trump
well, most of them do anyways. He's good for ratings. Pence is boring and won't be nearly as good at pushing back when called out for Republican overreach. The media won't love him.

should they choose to go that route, will simply see their votes rejected.

(1,035 posts)5. That's OK, as long as Trump doesn't get 270 votes it doesn't matter how.

(7,666 posts)6. Do you really think it will matter
if he gets 270 or not? It will go to the House and they'll elect him anyway.
